Relationship problem.

My guinea pig is really cute in all and I have just recently built a massive cage for him(2x5 with an add 27'' L shape). And i have had him for a year and he doesnt seem to be loving at all. He bites me every time I try to hold him and he dosent seem to want to leave his cage and I have to use food to get him to stay so I can pet him. And Im listening to everyones stories about how thier guinea pig snuggles with them while they watch TV, ect. and im wondering is it me? or is this my pigs persona? I never abused my guinea pig at all and have been doing nothing but caring for him and taking care of him as best as i can. How can I become closer with my Guinea Pig?

Often solo guinea pigs aren't as sociable or adventurous. Some are, but many get their confidence from being around others of their own kind because they are a herd animal and don't do well alone. Aside from that, just try and be around him as much as possible, speak softly to him and have lots of gentle handling sessions with veggie bribes to sweeten him up!
