Genitals Red-Brown String-y Discharge?

I noticed that my 7 year old female piggie had a string-y red-brown discharge coming from her behind today. I seperated her into another cage and monitored her, she has normal poops - a bit small, but firm and the right shape. Since she did not have any other "incidents" of this discharge I let her out for feeding of veggies. As she went into the cage another "incident" happened. And there was another red-brown discharge string on the towel.

She eats and drinks normally and the discharge is not alot. She pees with no problem. Poops with no problem. She did have a little bit of noise when breathing (not constant), but I listened to her lungs with my stethoscope and there was no crackling. She doesn't seem in pain, walks around and is active.

There are absolutly no males in the house, so this couldn't be related to pregnancy.

She is currently still seperated in another cage for monitoring. She absolutly hates it as is evident from constant bar chewing but I feel it's neccessary in case it's contagious.

Never had this happen before - and searching the web seems to pull up pregnancy related bleeding.

Anyone have ANY idea what this is? I've had a piggie die from bladder stones and I know the signs - she never had string-y discharge like this.

Are the strings attached to poops, so that you know it's coming from her intestinal tract? Or are they separate, and could be coming from her urethra or her uterus?

A discharge from the uterus generally means pyometra, a uterine infection that usually requires a spay. At her age, that would be very problematic.

A discharge from the bladder could mean stones or infection -- is her urine tinged with blood at all?

And a discharge from the intestines could mean infection, irritation, or worse.

Can you post a picture?

If she mine, I'd be planning to take her to the vet tomorrow.

They aren't attached to her poops, but I know that doesn't rule out intestinal problems.

Here's a picture from the towel...it's the very obvious string-y thing. This is now dry, but the color is pretty close to when it was wet.

(The towel is a bit dirty because it is simply used a "walk way" into the cage, as she will not walk over the grids without the towel)

I have no idea. I'd suggest posting it in the Emergency and Medical forum over at Guinea Lynx -- www.guinealynx.info.
