Hey

I was at a fair yesterday with my mom and grandpa. And we walked into the "animal tent" where all the chickens, llamas, horses, goats, etc were. In the back corner in the tent, there were like cats ans kittens from the humaine society, and my mom and the lady who runs it got talking about my guinea pig, and my mom was like I might get oskar a buddy for christmas...and the lady was like "THAT'S A BAD BAD IDEA!!" Every guinea pig should be housed seperatly, they should always be alone, because they are very social. " And i'm like no, they are supposed to be with a buddy...

It was wierd...LoL

"Every guinea pig should be housed seperatly, they should always be alone, because they are very social. "

Huh? Because they are social they should be on their own?

I know...The lady didn't know what she was talking about..

wow, weird..... Hope your mom didn't believe that lady!

did you tell her that she was wrong? Thats such a strange thing to say.

I did! I was like.."No, they are supposed to be with another pig"..

And she's like..."Nope, they are very social animals, and need to live alone."

SHe obviously was a bit confused. How would she know anyhow? Stupid people... *fumes in a corner*

hmmm.....she must have been very muddled that day. her statment just contradicts itself.

lmao...that's what I was just thinking...I bet she has no idea what 'social' means! lmao!!!

What a dork

its actually VERY funny, unless someone was there who believed her and lsitened to her advice.

good point. That is sad to think about. Because people don't know any better, and they believe she knows what she is talking about. VERY sad...

what if a poor child had three piggers together in a cage, then went home and seperated them!

Unless they're like us and caught the whole 'they are very social animls, so they like to be kept alone..." thing. Then they probably realized she's stupid and probably doesn't know what she's talking about! lol

true - lets hope so!

This sounds mean but she's a moron. WHY does she work in the field she works in?! lol

I agree with this post! Except that the lady is an effing idiot! Seems like she has no idea what "social" means.

Through my own experience, my pigs are much happier in their groups of three.

what about groups of two?

Pairs work great too!

Pairs are fine. It's that second pig that's crucial, although I found things improve further with a third piggie. There are diminishing returns involved, though.

Ok, I have a story to share . . . At our local fair, we have a huge cavy barn, mostly 4H group projects, girl scouts, etc, but there was also a breeder there selling her pigs, anyway, my husband's cousin and his daughters were in there talking to her and the cousin asked if guinea pigs bite, the lady replied, and I quote "My guinea pigs don't bite because they listen to Chrisitan music". I kid you not!
