I will be getting pigs in 2 weeks, and they will most likely be young. I'm not sure how many months old. I will have 2 boys. I've tried to work out a menu for them based on what I have available to me. Of course I will give them pellets, timothy hay and lots of water everyday. What would you change about my current menu? Is this too much food?

Also, how much hay do you normally go through per day? If you could think of it in cups that would be helpful :) I'm trying to estimate the cost of everything per week.

your menu is a lot more diverse than mine. I normally go with a cup of lettuce, some bell peppers, cilantro, a cherry tomato and 1 or 2 other daily types of food and then carrots, celery, cucumber, green beans, parsley, orange bell pepper, zuchinni, squash etc at the appropriate intervals. I also make their salads a week in advance. I hated chopping veggies first thing in the morning.

And I have no clue how much hay I go through per day in cups. When I had bins that I had to fill up daily I would go through about 3 big fist fulls a day per pig. Now I have a grid that I fill up once every 3 or 4 days. Order some a big box of KMS, it'll last you a good 6 months, maybe more with babies.

I know I haven't been much help. Someone will be along shortly that's been feeding guinea pigs for much much longer than I have and they'll have better answers, I'm sure.

Just be prepared for alterations based on your piggy's likes/dislikes. I was hoping mine would eat green, yellow and red peppers but both turn their noses up at those, and one will eat tomatoes while the other refuses. It will take some experimentation to make the proper adjustments so you're not wasting money and veggies.

I hope my piggies don't end up being fussy eaters!
