Diet Quick question

We bought these for my husband who has decided he didn't like them and are wondering if the guinea can eat these? (Also have cauliflower and broccoli in the fridge) these are all listed as 1 to 2 times a week items on the chart if I remember so I'm wondering how much to give them.

Also wondering if someone can tell me what a serving size per guinea pig is for greens, other veg, and fruit so I can make sure they are getting enough!

Normally our GPs get a mix of green, red lettucez parsley and cilantro all mixed together and then we buy mixed bell peppers do there's some of each color for them and depending on the day there's carrots, cucumber, zuchinni. We haven't done much else with them yet.

Not much at all of the cabbage -- it can cause bloating. Somewhat more of the broccoli, but still not a lot. The carrots are fine.

I would also keep an eye on the parsley and cilantro they are getting. Both are high in calcium and some pigs are prone to urinary tract stones. The leaf lettuce and peppers are good and should provide the vitamin C they need.

I personally never give broccoli or cabbage to my guinea pigs because they're so gassy... Most people are ok doing very small amounts of it about once week. I just never want to risk bloating issues, and I have other treats my piggies like better!

The best serving size is simply one cup of veggies/greens per piggy per day. And if you have more greens then veggies in the cup, it's ok to go a little over it. Fruits, since they're high in sugar, are better as a treat only a couple times a week.

The green/red lettuce and bell peppers you're doing are perfect! And carrots, cucumber, zucchini depending on the day are great, too. I would also be careful with the parsley and cilantro since it's high in calcium. My piggies love cilantro, so I get it for them as a treat about every other or every third week. That way they'll take a one or two week break from it; and then can enjoy 3 or 4 sprigs of it everyday when I do get it.
