Questions about c&c cages

Here are a few questions I need answering -

1. How much weight can the grids handle? I need to stack my cages due to having quite an amount of piggies. Not sure wether you have to put them on a shelf or if you can stack them, not sure if it would topple over though.

2. Do you have to use coroplast/lino..etc.. or can you just put the cage of a wooden surface with a layer of newspaper on top?

Sorry, might be pretty obvious answers but I'm a beginner to these cages!

I'm not sure about the 1st question - however, if you stack them, will cleaning be hard? Won't it be dark underneath?

No, you don't have to use coroplast or lino. Coroplast is nice to have because cleaning is a breeze - you can just lift up the box and dump the soiled litter. Also, they both protect the floor. You know candi? She's used cardboard, which has a shower curtain on top. This can work well. The newspaper might not be enough...

How big are you planning on making your cages? I have a 2-story one, but the top level is the same length, but half the width. The bottom is 5x2 grids, and the top is 5x1 grids. The cages are easy to clean, have plenty of light, don't warp, and won't topple because I used cable ties to secure the levels together. I got my idea for the cages from several people on this site. Just check the galleries for examples.

I highly recommed coroplast. I would think the wood would be difficult to keep clean because the pee would soak into it. The newspaper won't hold all the pee.
