Questions about C&C cages

Ok I have been looking at some of the C&C cages on ebay. My question is with the height of the cages. Do the GP's ever try and climb out? They dont look very tall. I know that you can get the tops for the cages but I was just wondering if anyone had and experience with the GP's trying to get out? Or had them escape before? I want to get a bigger cage for my girls but was just wondering about them getting out of it..because I do have a toddler running around too ;-) (but I do like the idea of the cage being open without a top)

Thanks-

My pigs have never tried to climb out of the cages. The grids on my office are 14" in height. The grids upstairs at home are 15" high. Rosie does stand up when she sees me coming with a veggie, which I do all the time.

They don't try and climb or jump out - usually they are so happy with the space they have in the C&C cages, that they never get that escaping urge that people often see when they have their pigs in pet shop cages (jumping out as soon as the door is opened etc). The only cases I have heard of escapees is baby piggers who can get through the gaps in the grids, but the site clearly tells you to double up the grids if you have bubs, which stops that happening.

However if you have a toddler I would definitely have it raised out of his/her reach, or have a lid on it for their safety.

i dont think that a cavy can jump 14 inches well 16 to clear the grid.Unless there is a female close by and the male can hear her and smell.mine reach the top of the grids but never had tried jumping over.Ive had some try and run away from me straight into the grids but never over lol.

Well I must have missed that one. I got my new baby and just stuck him in a regular c&c cage. My dog is always trying to see the pigs and I turn around and the baby has got its head and one arm through the cage and the dog is licking his head.

I shudder to think what could have happend had the dog tried to pull him out or to eat him. Luckily he has quickly grown to a size that couldn't fit though.

So much for any instinct for self preservation. "Well here's a large carnivore, let me just sneak through the bars of my cage and see what the inside of its mouth looks like...."

I have 3 little girls in a C&C cage and have neer seen them come even close to getting out....i did however have an issue of my cat (who is very much in love with the girls) pushing open the door i have on the cage for floor time and letting one of the piggies out....boy was i surprised when i came in the room and sadie (the cat) was next to the cage and Stitch (the pig) was on the other side of the room.
