General Question

I have a question....I just received a piggy that is about 5 years old. The piggy has bumble foot....Is there anything special that I need to know to help take care of her. Thanks,

Also, soft bedding for the piggy is ideal to make her more comfortable and keep the foot from getting irritated. Something like carefresh, or if you have fleece. I'm no expert on bumblefoot, but this may help .

Just be aware that there can be, and probably is, infection in the foot even if the skin is not broken. So whatever treatments you use, get the pig to a vet if the redness and swelling doesn't clear up or gets worse -- the pig will need antibiotics. Otherwise, you risk ostemyelitis, which is an infection in the bone, and that's both extremely painful for the pig and expensive for your pocketbook.

She has had it since she was a couple months old and now she is 5 years old. Do I still need to worry about it getting irritated and infected.

If she's had something since she was two months old and she's now five years old, it wasn't bumblefoot. She'd have lost her foot and someone would have lost a pig a long time ago.

Can you take a picture of it so we can see whether it really looks like bumblefoot?

her two front feet are form and curled under....she walks for the most part fine...I just want to make sure we do everything we can to make it as easy as we can for her

That doesn't sound like bumblefoot at all -- sounds like a deformity. Check the Guinea Lynx page for bumblefoot pictures.
