I just realized i have enough coroplast and room to add a 2x2 upper level to my gp's cage. 1x1 of it would not be over the 2x3 bottom cage. I woudl make a 2x4 but i don't have enough coroplast to make the 6" walls. Anyway.....I have the coroplast but i don't have enought fleece or puppy pads. I just bought the washable puppy pads. So i was wondering if there was something else i could use besides fleece (and loose bedding) that is not too expensive?

anyone know of anything?

i really need some help on this!!! Anyone?..........

Cant you just use newspaper under your fleece? I dont know about where you live, but I get free newspaper here.

I had previously used carpet mats. I was able to get them at a discount store, approx. 2 to 3 dollars each.

PigletsAngel- I don't have anymore fleece. I used it when i made a 3rd set of fleece for the bottom of the cage.

If i use mats do i have to put something under them to soak up the pee? Or do i jsut put the mats down?

What about just using some towel's on the top? They fit nicely in a smaller area and are easy to pull up and wash.

How often do you have to wash the towels? And should i use newspaper under them?

I like the ides of the mats alsoi just don't know if i have to put something under them?

I would wash the towels every 3 days. On my upper level currently, there is just plain coroplast.

I use towels (when the vetbed is in the wash). I put about 3 layers of newspaper down, then the towel. I wash it every 4-5 days. My towels stay dry for AGES and they don't smell.

Slap- I thought it wasn't goos to have just plain coroplast?

I think i might try the towel, but has anyone tried just mats? I would be able to get the mats at a cheap price.

I think it might get gross after awhile, but if you clean it everyday then it might work.
