question on connectors and coroplast

Ok, I just built the cage from the cubes, I don't have my coroplast yet though. I built a cage 4 cubes by 2 cubes. I built a floor out of the cube wire also though because I wanted to be able to slide the cage across the floor once the coroplast tray is inside and not have the cube walls fall apart. I like it better this way, only, not I am not sure if the connecters on the bottom floor will raise up the coroplast too much or makes holes in the coroplast. Should I just take the floor out? I really wanted the floor, The pigs won't be sitting on the wire floor anyway because coroplast will be ontop of it. But I think the connectors might be a problem under the coroplast. What should I do? Also how big of a piece of coroplast should I get? The cage measures 29x53 I think. The biggest piece the store sells is a 4 ft by 8 ft sheet, is that TOO big or ok.

Heya and welcome. I really don't think the connectors would cause a problem. I think you need the floor if you want to move the cage around a lot.

The connectors don't bother the coroplast because the measurements listed on the "How To Make" page take into account the connectors. The only need to have a bottom is if you want additional support under the coroplast. I had a 2x3 with no bottom grids and it was very easy to move around, it sat on the floor. My other cages have bottoms because it is part of the stand they sit on.

A 4'x8' piece of coroplast is big enough to make the base of a 2x4 cage easily, you will have leftovers.

I agree with NoVeil. That's usually the only size it's sold in. The bottom grids won't be a problem.

you could use tie wraps(zip ties) on the whole bottom connecting all the grids for the bottom then to ths sides. I used lots on mine to make it more stable and so it wouldn't come apart when moved.

oops, I was thinking of the caple ties. The connecters could cause a problem.
