i understand the idea of giving a buddy bath when introducing a new pig - it startles them into stopping their fussing :eye-poppi and cleans all the smells off both of them. maybe there's more than that even. but what i don't quite get is does it work for the long term? it seems to disrupt any currently problems, but does it really help them get along from that point on? and exactly how does giving them a startling bath lead to them getting along the next day? just curious.

Some people say it works, some say it doesn't. I don't think there's any way to know if the pigs would have gotten along anyway if you'd skipped the buddy bath, or if they would have done better if they'd had one. But there are plenty of people out there who have used them when they've had difficulty introducing pigs, mostly with pretty good success.
