so I rescued her from the AC and I've had her 3 weeks.

just now I noticed blood on her butt.
is that normal in birth??

she's still eating grass and hay.

i'm really worried.

why does something always happen AFTER the vet closes

How much blood is there? If there's a lot, I say take her to an emergency vet, but I really don't know. Better to err on the side of caution.

I've never had a pregnant guinea pig, but... from what I understand, if there's blood, it should be only a little, tiny bit, from the placentas, the mom chewing through the umblical cords, etc... not very much..

Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable is on who can help... >.< I don't know!

its just a little on her butt. its not like dripping. could the babies have been aborted?

at the AC all she had were pellets to eat. i don't know what that kind of lack of nutrition can do.

the emergency vet around here is pretty lame. they really only know about dogs and cats.

ugh. poor piggy

Get her to a vet this morning. Her life and the babies' lives are in danger. Blood should only be associated with birth. If no babies have been born then something is wrong.

I was just going to ask - has she had any babies yet? Please take her to the vet if she is in labor and has not delivered!!

I agree, take her to the Vet's asap. Blood during pregnancy that isn't from the birthing process is not normal and should be treated immediately. The only time a pregnant sow should be bleeding is when they deliver and after they will usually spot for a few hours or even for a day or two after they delivered but any heavy bleeding after delivery is a bad sign and medical help should be sought immediately.

She might be misacarrying. Update us when you know what's happening.

Yeah please let us know. I hope she is fine along with the babies.

i took her to the vet today. she miscarried :(
but at least she's okay. she's eating and drinking and seems to be doing fine.

i'm sad the babies are gone, but at least that opens up more homes for any other homeless piggies.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you did the best you could, but sometimes these things just happen. :(

aww that's sad :-( !! I'm sorry!

yeah, I only rescued her from AC 3 weeks ago. i have no idea what kind of care she had before that. but at the AC she was in a tiny cramped cage with a wire bottom and 2 other males, and only pellets. no room to move. no veggies or even any hay.
as long as she's happy and healthy now, thats my goal.

Awwwwwwww at least you still have her. The pups are popcorning in the parsley fields.

I hope she gets better. That is so sad.
