Help! I would love to know how to potty train my piggies! They are fine as is, but it would be a big help if I could figure out how to litter box train them. Is there a safe, friendly way to do this that I can do for 2 one year old piggies?
I'd love to know everyone's techniques if they have some!
Thanks!
Ellen

What do you use for litter in a litter box?

I have started using crittercare, which I think is like carefresh. If you use regular bedding (carefresh, aspen, etc.) in your cage, you can throw some of the urine soiled bedding in the litter box as well. It has the urine scent on it and will help direct the pigs to the litter pan.

For those who use fleece and don't want shavings to stick to the fleece when they drag/kick it out of the potty pan, try using carefresh, crittercare, wood pellets, newspaper/hay combo or any type of bedding that isn't shavings. I hated it when the kiln-dried pine stuck to the fleece. Took me an hour by hand to get it off a piece of fleece the size of a 3x4 cage.
