Potty train???

Can guinea pigs really be trained to potty in the same place all the time? I saw the little potty things at the pet store and wondered if they really work.

They can be trained to pee in them but it usually isn't 100% they still poop everywhere.

Yeah, I'm going through a slow process with Cc and Smores. They go in their boxes about 3 times out of the week. Then they get tired of them and flip them over. It's a process.

They will pee in them if you use fleece. They will only poo in them about 10% of the time, though.

How does the fleece make them use the litter pan?

When you put a litterbox filled with shavings in a cage where you use shavings, that can be really confusing for the pigs. It's like saying you can't pee in the big box with shavings, your only allowed to pee in the small box with shavings.

Phoebe thinks her cage is one big toilet, so there's no hope there. I don't use fleece though. However, she is litter trained for floortime & that's fine by me. She'll even poop close to the litter tray.
