does anyone have a video of a guinea pig popcorning (my mom still isnt convinced. She thinks its some kind of spastic fit or something)

there is one on guinealynx

As a new cavy person, I too would like to see this... I'm trying to get a handle on the terminology.

Thank you. I'm glad that I've seen that as I would probably have been alarmed to see the behavior firsthand without knowing what it was.

That's halarious!

Its so funny when the pig falls over backwards because it popcorned so hard!

Yeah I know, I cracked up then. The guinea gets up and kinda looks around then goes on her own way. It's so funny! I showed my sister and she was cracking up too!

LOL my 'Little Baby Foo Foo' (four weeks old now) has been popcorning for the first time (that I've seen myself) the last two days, and she's SO funny! She'll popcorn up to mama and then run around her as if to say 'come one ma! It's fun!'. She is halarious! lol

My mom cracked up.

This is offtopic but I tried out the chirping on my guinea pig Kiyoshi and he "drrrrrr drrrrrr" in response, then started to look around for the source.

As for the popcorning, Kiyoshi was facing the monitor as I played it with a big grin on my face. I think Kiyosh's popcorning days are over as he hasn't done it for a while (save when he sees that I'm offering the whole expanse of my room for floortime instead of a small chip.

My pigs haven't been popcorning as much either :( Maybe it just goes away as they get older.. or fatter!

Phoebe is still young & a very intense popcorner. She likes to popcorn/jump onto her hammock, then popcorn while she's on her hammock, popcorn off her hammock, run around & start all over again. She'll also popcorn while she's under her hammock/cardboard hut/pigloo causing it jump up with her. If I start laughing (which I always do when she popcorns) she'll start popcorning harder.

Mine do that too--whenevr I laugh, they just start going like mad! And of course I laugh even harder, they popcorn even, more... you get the picture. It's very funny! =)

Well, both my boys are getting old and they are rather plump. I've only seen them popcorn twice, one when I cleaned the cage and once during their dinner!

is it bad if your pig doesn't popcorn? I have a 3 month old and i haven't seen her popcorn (but that's probably because i just got her 2 days ago...)

no my piggy isnt much of a popcorner but he used to try to climb up the sides of his cage (a stupidly bought store cage)

o_O Werid pigs. I remember when my baby use to popcorn my mum would stand staring at me and him then finally say "You bought an epileptic pig?"

I then found out that he was just very happy and was glad...until I was also informed that sometimes they can dislocate their hind legs or something if they popcorn too hard and to deal with that you put 'em back in their cage and let everything click back together again... silly baby piggies

omg thats so sad nocableissafe. My one piggie Checker is a big popcorner. He is like a wild buckaroo. I love the white one looks like a little tutu. My Autumn is just like the white one but orange and black. i have pics if ya all wanna see. Here is my site of all the piggers I have including the 5 new babies. (broken link removed)

I love the one of Muffy in the Pigloo. What a cute little nose!
