Hi!
I have two female guniea pigs, and one of them (the significantly fatter one) seems to be weezing. She is making all of her usual piggie sounds, just with a lower voice. It almost sounds like she's having trouble breathing right. But she is still eating, drinking, pooping, and playing with her sister like normal. What do I do?

Thanks!
-Mooskeneo.

Time for an exotic vet. Pigs can go downhill really quickly with respiratory infections, and your post sounds as those she needs to be on an antibiotic.

Hey everyone.
So I realized that I had recently changed the type of bedding that I use for my two pigs to pine bedding, and right after that my pig started weezing. So I switched back to the old bedding just to see if that had anything to do with the issue, and now she is all better! I guess she is just allergic to pine! Thank goodness that's all that was wrong!

Have you ever consider using fleece? I am glad to hear that she is better!

Phew! Glad she is doing better!
Just as a suggestion though, using fleece might help with prevent problems like this. And it's machine washable! Fleece allows anything wet to go past the material and be caught by something absorbent underneath. This helps keep piggies dry and warm and then you don't have to deal with dust being formed from piggies running around other sorts of litter.

I am actually in the process of building a large C&C cage for them, and intend to switch to fleece as soon as it is finished!
