Love your comments Kathlaaron! :D

I actually live in Florida also! It just gets me so heated when I see people so careless with animals. The piggies feet must be hurting from that wire flooring!

The wire flooring (as well as worn and rusty !) is what immediately got my attention ! It just HURTS deep in our souls to see these poor creatures obviously living in a tormented hell.

My Mom whom I adore, lives in Florida too ! She lives in Dunedin. Thank you for your kind praise, it means a lot. Smile. You made my night ! Smile.

Exactly!! I forgot about the rusting! That is a completely dangerous environment. It is so sad piggys and all creatures don't have a mouth to speak yet people like this woman take advantage of them by being careless.

Wow! I wish I was in Dunedin next to the ocean she must definitively have an amazing view! :D I live all the way in crowded Orlando it's turning into a mini city which is not cool! Absolutely welcome! :) your thoughts were exactly mine!

I'm just curious if you know what the laws are in FL regarding breeding. Some states have specific requirements for the size of cages, type of flooring, number of animals per enclosure, etc. If there are no standards, you might have trouble trying to get those pigs out of there. The best way to approach it might be to get photos of the water bottles with algae, any type of wounds, bumblefoot from the wire bottom cages, crammed living conditions, lack of hay, food or water, pigs out in the sun. How are they being transported? I'd try and get as many photos of anything that constitutes neglect or abuse. Good luck and keep us posted as to what happens.

Well, the good news is, even if they don't have laws about number of animals per enclosure (though they certainly should), I think the conditions of the cages and the food sources, should be enough to get the authorities involved for animal abuse and/or neglect.

I called the towns animal control, and the woman I talked to was very nice, she said shed make the call to have someone sent out there to inspect. She said they'll alot her a certain amount of time to fix the problem, and if she doesn't she'll get fined. I am going to call back in several days..maybe a week or so and see if they. Sent anyone out there...if they did not I will involve someone else. If they did, I'll find out the results. I really would like to adopt a couple of those piggies. I'll contact the woman in around a month and see if she's still selling....if she is..I'll call multiple places. I'm not giving up on them.

I live in Florida too. Close to Orlando. What city is this lady in? If you can provide me with her information, I'll start making calls too. Maybe the authorities will be more inclined to act if they have multiple complaints.

She actually lives in Oviedo, I just saw that you live there too. Wow, small world!

Can I get in trouble for posting her personal information on here? I think it's a great idea to have more people than just myself call, but I don't want to get myself into any trouble.

When I called the lady asked HOW I knew, and since I had talked to the breeder firsthand, that might have made a difference, I'm not sure. Let me know what you think and thank you, all of you, for being so supportive. I won't forget to keep updating on it!

I'll send you a friend request and you can PM me her info. Did she post an ad somewhere like craigslist that's Public? If so, I can say "Oh I found your ad and was interested." Maybe she'll send me the pics too so I can take them directly to the local authorities.

I'm not sure a fine is going to do much good. But it's a start. She probably gets more money for the pigs she breeds. Probably enough to pay the fine right off.

They need to have animal control go out there and investigate. They will see that those are not healthy conditions for the animals to be in.

Animal Control IS going to go out there and investigate. You can't just fine her without seeing it with your own two eyes.

And you're right. It IS a start. I'll just keep nagging until they take the pigs away. If they don't take the action that we all feel is needed, and the bad conditions are continued (which if she keeps them we know they will be) then I'll contact a bigger organization, that's more into animal rights.

I'm not going to just give up. I've seen too much to be able to live with myself knowing exactly where animal cruelty is happening. I'm going to college to be able to rescue animals, so this is very personal for me.

Wow, the cages in the back were really cramped too. You would think a breeder would know wire hurts their feet! Of course, some people just are heartless and don't care. Poor cavies!

For my own experience, nagging often works. If you keep annoying them until they get tired of you, chances are they will make some chages.
Try all that you can. This kind of thing is disgusting.
