Starthecavy123 I may not see it the same way but I totally get what you're saying. I do agree guinea pigs shouldn't be bred as feeders because they simply don't breed well (1 in 5 chance she'll die as well as the babies) but the others reproduce much better without many complications, you know the saying, "breed like rabbits." As I said I do get where your coming from though. Thanks for answering. :)

I remember a while back a man got in big trouble because he fed a puppy to his snake. Everyone was outraged because we have a very strong attachment to puppies because they are cute but of course rats or mice are ok. It is all about perspective, although you could argue puppies aren't prey animals so its not right in a natural sense. Guinea pigs and rabbits are in nature meant to be eaten by larger predators. It is sad but it is a necessary part of life because carnivorous predators can not have the dietary choices we do as humans. I do have a problem with any sort of live feeding for a pet as well (prefer if its dead) because I would not want the animal to suffer before death, and wouldn't want other family members to witness this either (can you imagine?). It is hard to imagine guinea pigs as food but this does happen all the time in the wild. Thankfully my babies are safe with me.

My brain works slower than most people probably because of my learning disability. So sorry anyone if I offended you or anything.

Starthecavy123 Hey I have Adhd so that often makes my posts long, scattered and with some misspelled or out of place words (thank ya Jesus for spellcheck and the ten minute editing option otherwise there would be a whole lot more. Lol.) We all have something. It's no problem. :)

I am a bit ambiguos about all this. We breed cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits and lots of other animals for human consumption. I think all of these animals are too cute, and still I eat meat. (not every day, but I am not a vegetarian either) In china, people eat cats, in peru people eat guinea pigs, those by me are considered to be pets, not food. I think it is disgusting, however I eat lamb and they are supercute as well so what is the difference. Am I a hypocrite? Probably.
I don't like to know that animals are bred to be eaten but I eat animals, and unfortunately not all had a great life. Is it not ok to breed guineas as a feeder animal? I don't like the idea, but I doubt it can be prohibited.

I agree. It's not even because of human consumption. Even if all humans were veggies our carnivorous pets would need to eat meat since their digestive systems aren't adaptive like omnivores. Since they are domesticated they rely on us to provide meat for them so breeding would still be necessary. I don't eat meat myself, But I know it is necessary for other animals. I can only hope that we can move more towards humane, hormone-free, and free-range methods for the breeding of animals so they at least live somewhat happy lives.

Everybody please calm down we don't need to fight I don't think that they meant that guinea pigs or rabbits are more important than rats or mice I think they are just saying that a snake isn't going to eat rats or mice so they are just saying that's it's weird and sad they didn't mean they were more important so just calm down everybody

Agreed at least if your going to breed do it the right way and don't make that poor animal suffer for your happiness when you can both be happy doing it the right way

It was as stated an advert for "feeder" animals, i.e small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits for sale as snake food.
