I am clearing out a section of the family room. There's a corner where the "designers" (HA!) of this house thought the TV should go--no windows. And I like the idea of putting a C&C cage along that run of wall. (No pigs yet--trying to get everything settled and most basic questions answered first.)
If you face this corner, on the right wall is a sliding window with my son's homeworK desk under it. On the left wall there's a long run of windowless space (Almost seven feet), then the log rack, then the fireplace, and then another (non-opening) window.
My thought is to put in the very corner bins with towels, food, supplies, etc. Then a long folding table with the cage on top.
My son often has trouble getting homeowrk done at the desk, because even though it's right under a window, he has trouble getting enough light. (Especially if homework is being done after the sun goes down.) I've been considering putting either a light pole in the corner or a hanging lamp in the corner for a larger flood of light. (The designers (HA!) of this house decided that no room will have overhead lighting and they were frugal with the number of wall plugs going to each room.)
Finally, to the question. Assuming your pigs are not situated near a window, how much light do you provide them? Should I put full-spectrum bulbs in the lamp? (Leaning towards this anyway--like the way they brighten a room) Is there a type of light/lamp I should steer clear of?
Thank you.
