Hi, so my piggies usually get 1/8th of a bell pepper then got an Oxbow VitaminC treat. But now the oxbow treat changed (its more flat?) And now one of my piggies wont even touch it. Ive noticed that the calcium is high on the treats too. So i would like to ask how much calcium does an adult piggy need a day? And what should i do about my piggy not eating bell peppers/vitamin c treat? And ive already tried yellow, green, and red bell peppers, she still doesnt like them!

my little sister's guinea wouldn't eat her oxbow vit c pellet either, i'm not sure what caused it but one day i offered her one from my hand and she ate it. what we use to do was put it in her food bowl and sometimes she would eat it other times she wouldn't.

I just crushed up the pellet and put it on her lettuce, after doing that for a couple of days, i gave one to her just plain and she ate half of it then stopped. Im still working with her, but it worked!

I wish that Oxbow still made the Oxbow Vitamin C Citrus Flavored Tablets. Maybe you should try giving your guinea pigs some Cherry Tomatoes?

You shouldn't rely on tomatoes for their vitamin c. They can only be fed in very small quantities because of the acid the tomatoes contain. Too much can lead to tooth aches. They're also high in sugar.

Tomatoes are not nearly as high in either acid or sugar as they used to be. My pigs have had a chunk of tomato nearly every day of their lives with no ill effects.

But tomatoes don't have nearly enough vitamin C to make up for a lack of peppers.
