That's a good point. I think all animals are very good at reading body language because in the "wild" that's how animals communicate. It's important to be able to "read" the other animals around you to determine if you are being threatened.

I think overall animals just have really DIFFERENT kinds of intelligence because they need to function in very different ways than modern humans do.

I do think my pigs are kinda smart, but mostly they get by on their good looks and charm :D

I'm a little late, but my pigs respond when I say certain words as well. I thought it was all about tone too but it seems that no matter which way I say "hungry", they know what it means. I come in with their salad every night and say "Who's hungry?" They go NUTS! I can say "hungry?" or just very blase "I bet you're hungry" and they'd still know what it means.
