I made my girls popsicles last night since it was so warm in here. I took a very shallow ceramic dish, sliced an orange, cut it in chunks and put it in the bottom, squeezed some juice from another slice over that, and added some water. I froze the dish and put it in their cage. They seem to enjoy it. What do you think?

Good idea Denise! Very creative-I'll have to try it for my piggies.

Sounds like an excellent idea. Did you have trouble getting the ice out of the bowl when it was frozen?

does your piggie lick it and eat it?

I just left it in the bowl so when it melted, the bedding (and pigs) wouldn't get wet and sticky. They licked it occassionally and slept next to it a bit, but don't seem too thrilled now that the newness has worn off. When it melts, I pick it up and put it back in the freezer.

My hubby don't like the fact of putting stuff in fridge or frezzer from the animals if they licked or touched it. It don't bother me but it bothers him. I might blend up watermellons and put it in a bowl and freeze it. Wadda ya think

By the way, Denise, did you leave the peel on oranges or do you have to take it off? I'm not sure if the peel has any nutritional value...or even if the piggies would like the taste of it. Thanks!

I went to the dollar store and bought the freezer popsicle kits. I chopped up the watermellons and added water in the blender. I just put it in the freezer few hours ago. I can't wait to see how they liked it. They love ice cubes.

I left the skins on. They like them.

AngelsCavies: I love the watermelon idea. My girls go NUTS for it!

Maybe put the bowl or whatever in a zipper freezer bag before you put it in the freezer. That way you don't have any waste on the piggy popsicles, but they're away from the "human" food. Either way wouldn't bother me either.

So how did the watermelon popsicles go? I'm just dying to know because my girls all devour watermelon.

Gonna be a scortcher here today (at least 94) so I may have to try something like that. Even with the central air, it gets warm when it's that warm outside

I am patiently waiting too. I have to go buy another watermelon if it was a hit and try it later. Yep, another record breaker here too!

There's nothing like going from April weather to July weather overnight is there (50's to 90's overnight).

I wonder how it would work with pineapple. Mine love that to. I might have to try that one too.

We are just a wealth of new ideas, aren't we ladies ;)

They absolutly love it. My princess likes it when they are slushie. They all went nuts and ate it all in mater of minutes. It is well worth it. That is not a bad idea with ziplock bags.

Off the the market I go ~~~~~~~~~~~~

go for it. We bought a whole seedless watermellon for 6 bucks. I cut them all up and split them down. It is so much cheaper than buying halfs. My only thing is that it is a pain picking out the white seeds. I get scared if any of mine eats them wiather they chew them or not. The one I got had so many of them white seeds.

Are peaches okay for piggies, beacause I was going to make one out of peaches.

I dont't know that got to be interesting.

Anyone peaches ok.

I am pretty sure peaches are ok. Mine have had them before and they're still alive and kicking.
