Piggy paw print decorations

My son had an idea for making Christmas decorations last year. We rolled some Fimo clay and we gently pushed our piggies back foot into the clay to make an impression. (The clay is really soft and caused no harm or distress to him.) We scratched his name and the date, added a small hole for hanging the decoration and once it was baked added a ribbon and hung it on the tree. Sadly the piggy in question died from Lymphoma in January but we have a precious memento to hang on our tree this year. We made decorations yesterday for the rest of our piggies.

Fimo is available from most craft stores and I think you can get it in Walmart. (broken link removed)

Also there is another similar product called sculpey which should work equally well.

I am so glad that we have something tangible other than photographs to remember him by. Owen was a very sweet piggy, one of a kind. He was our star. My son helped rescue him from Animal control and had an instant bond with him. It was very sad he got very sick and within 36 hours died, the day before my son's 12th birthday.

Oh I love this idea! Who knows if I can get my pigs to hold their foot still long enough....but they may go for it! It can't feel any worse than walking around and squishing their own poos.

OMG!!!!!!! I have a new progect!! lol I LOVE that idea!! Thanks for telling us that story because it just reminds us not to take them for granted you know? I mean, how many times have I walked by their cage and not stopped to baby talk to them?? Or when my kids are playing with them I don't take a picture of Hannah with Pozzy nestled in her neck both fast asleep...We need to make sure we make a memory out of those moments. Thanks!

Ok, I am going to make the oprnaments out of sculpey clay. do i have to bake it? or just let it dry?
