Piggy on the Loose!

Hi All,
Yesterday I discovered the little girl, Melody, had apparently scaled the wall of her c&c cage twice and did a Chicken Run, wheeking all around my daughters' room like a rascal and hiding under the bed! Our pigs have been in their cage for about 4 months, and I had no idea that they could climb - thank goodness it's on the floor and she didn't have far to land! I'm hoping the bigger one, Marshmallow wasn't watching to closely and decides to follow her friend. As it is, Melody had to go in solitary (her pet store cage) until I can figure out how she got out, and how to keep her in!
Has this every happened to anyone? Any suggestions for enclosing the top so she can't get over the side, but so that I can easily get in there to clean?
Thanks in advance, any feedback is appreciated!
Tracey

Re: Piggy on the Loose!

I've never heard of a guinea pig climbing before, and I've never ever seen my guinea pigs try to climb. They have short stubby legs and I didnt think it was could happen..but I guess anything is possible. Sorry I couldnt be of any help.... good luck ;)

hehehehehehe ok i know it must be frusterating but if you have a cage shorter then a 4 feet high then your piggy will be free range if you want it to or not. now at my home we house four ( hoping on five piggies) and we have a top on our cage for them it is made simplily with chicken wire and wood it fits right over the cage and i havent had had any excapies yet.
