Piggy Ears:)

I'm curious as I own one of each. What breed of pigs has floppy ears and what kind do not?

All breeds have floppy ears. SOme pigs have ears that appear to be standing which is usually caused my inbreeding, over breeding or seen in young pigs.

The breed standard for ears is the same in all breeds. They should be well sized and shaped like a rose petal.

All guinea pigs are different. I have some with big floppy ears and some with tiny ones that almost stand up on their heads.. it makes no difference to what breed they are.

I must say that I love Bonnie´s and Zirbel´s standing ears and had to get used to Gobi´s (lightly) and Sydney´s (very) hanging ears - but now I love them all cause they flap so nicely when the piggies come running.

Well my abby had sticky up ears when he was young and at 5months now he still has them.

My other mongral has floppy ears.

Wow! I didn't know piggies ears flopped as they got older! When I got my Domino, her ears were erect. She was cute but she looked more like a mouse than a piggie. A week later, her ears are starting to droop. Perhaps they'll be floppy in a few more weeks. I can hardly wait! Floppy ears flap when they wheek!

One of my girls had way larger ears than the other two, though they are all kind of floppy, and hers also flap when she wheeks.

Standing ears flap, too, when Bonnie wheeks! Of course, she wheeks with her entire body, runs circles like mad and can't stand still for a second when there's only a faint whiff of food in the air but that's a different topic.

I love the flappy ears! I tell my husband that when he does his piggy impressions the only thing missing is the flappy ears!

Lassie has floppy ears but Poppy's ears, while shaped more or less the same stick out to the sides. I love both of them to pieces!
