Piggies that beg?

Ive heard alot about, and seen pictures of Cavia's up on their hind legs begging like a dog would, but none of mine do it, if anything is out of reach they will simply ignore it, even if its their favourite food.
What I wsa wondering is if this is a behaviour that comes natrualy to some, or is it a trained behaviour?

I think it just depends on the personality of the piggie. Rusty dont beg,,but it sounds almost like he is yelling at me to feed him. He starts wheeking really loud at me.

all of my pigs beg, you have to put it right at there noses then slowy bring it up. I doubt there is anything my pigs wouldn't do for a carrot lol

my pigs don't quite get up on their hind legs on their own, but they do climb up as high as they can on their cage whenever I come in the room with food. I think its probably just a natural thing because two of mine do it, but one just sits back and waits for her food. I agree that you could try putting it at their noses then bringing it up.

My sow CoCo, (my avatar pig) comes up to the side of the cage anytime I get near it and puts her feet up on the grids and begs to be scratched on her nose.

Of my two boys, Rico will beg like carzy. Gunner used to be incredibly lazy, but he seems to have picked up on Rico's behavior. Even when the dogs decide to poke their noses in the cage, both pigs go nuts and think they are getting food.

thanks for the replies everyone, I just thought my piggies were acting in their usual unique way, they tend to try and do everything differently from what they should lol. I wont try to teach them to beg, but if they ever take it up it will definately make communication easier

The other day I finally bought carrots for all the piggers. I decided to sit in the cage to be with them. Since I use fleece not bedding. I had a small bag of carrots on my lap trying to open it. Well Peanut decided to steal the bag from me and play tug a war since I didnt give her a peice first. It was so cute
