My husband and I are new parents to a PEW rat and a guinea pig,and so far were loving it.
i read that naturally rats and pigs don't get along,so we haven't been letting them play together. But today it was nice out and we decided to take them in the yard to play and exercise. At firt they were separated but they ended up getting close to each other. They didn't fight and actually got along. They cuddled and s'mores was wheeking and purring and Willard was making whatever noises rats make LOL they even took a nap together.
i got a few good pictures of them today so here they are :)

Is your guinea pigs head always that tilted? That looks very sweet but i know that they could both benefit from a friend of the same breed. Your guinea pig has gorgeous colors and the rattie is so cute! :D

Rats are predators and guinea pigs are prey animals. They shouldn't be allowed to mix; even under supervision. A rat can kill a guinea pig.

Sometimes, we need to give credit to astute and caring caretakers as well. Dogs and cats can also kill guinea pigs, but given a chance to get along, many have loving relationships -- under supervision. I believe animals can communicate with each other to certain extents.

I've got to believe that a pig with that severe of a case of torticollis is in a certain level of constant distress. I would not be surprised at all if the rat picks up on this. Clearly, you would never cage the two together, but I don't think this is something to get up worked about either.

Not sure how you ended up with such a torti pig, but bravo to you for taking care of pig that has issues.

And yes, they each would benefit from a friend. I would be pretty careful and work with a rescue on finding a pal for your torti pig. You need to find a good, non-stressful match.

Make sure you've got several soft, squishy cozies in the cage for the pig so that he can adjust to what's physically comfortable. That's a severe case. Also, make sure that you keep the cage pretty immaculate -- clean very frequently.

I was told her head tilt is permanent, and that's he had a URI previously. I am taking her to the vet this week to rule out an ear infection, just incase.i would hate to let her suffer just because i listened to someone and not get a second opinion(I got her from Petco)
willard has a really relaxed personality,my 2 year old can pick him up and handle him and he doesn't even flinch. I would never put any of my animals in harms way and I was within arms reach of both of them the whole time they were together. Like you said a cat or dog could also kill a guinea pig but that doesn't mean they will.
