I have two pigs that have been living together and getting along great since August of 2004 and all of the sudden the past few days they have been fighting like crazy. Nothing in their environment has changed and I really don't want to have to seperate them. Anybody experienced this or have any suggestions on what to do?

Don't seperate them unless there is bloodshed or one stops another from eating. They might get over it.

They might be going through puberty (lucky you) don't seperate untill there is bloodshed or really obvious fighting like slap said.

How old are they? It sounds like puberty.

Are they males?

they might be at thay teenage piggy stage...we all fall out when we are teenagers... there hormones are probably changing but if it gets rediculously bad...separate

I have two boars who began fighting when they hit puberty. I had to separate them because their was always bloodshed and one stopping the other from eating or doing anything else. How long does this puberty last? Is there any chance I can get them to live together again once it's passed? I really don't want to neuter Ziggy and get him a female because of the neutering risks and costs and there are only two pig rescues in NM. One is closed or gone and one hasn't had it's site updated in two years and doesn't have any pigs. I wanted to try and find a spayed female for mine. The other pig (Stardust) is my B/F's and he doesn't want to get another for him unless ours can live together.

Thanks for the advice everyone. They are both males, Arthur is a year or shortly past and Merlin is around 9 months. I feel so bad for Arthur he's way bigger than Merlin. Merlin seemed like the one who was starting the fights. He was also blocking Arthur from the food and the water bottle. We have a 2x4 grid cage for them, so my husband put up two grids in the middle to seperate them for now. They can still see each other. So when they stop chattering at each other I'll see how they do together again.
