pig leaps through grid!

it was pretty amusing. But yesterday I introduced the two pigs, and they seemed to get along aright, except for the weird dominance display (which I found out was usual!). So I stuck them in the cage, and the little one (i'm not sure how young he is, but he is super small, maybe around 4 inches, and 2 inches wide leapt (he jumps a lot higher than 6 inches) out of his cage through one of the grids. I had a good laugh at the time, since it was just plain funny. Then (sadly) I had to haul out the old nappy pet store cage w/ smaller gridding so he wont escape at night and chew a cord. How old/big are they normally when you can stick them into the large C&C style cage?


anyone else have a leaping pig experience?

Try double griding your cage or get kids grids or mesh.

you can use extra coroplast or cardboard to make temporary higher walls

You're supposed to baby proof the cages before putting a baby in. They can easily get their heads stuck and die. Check out the babyproofing gallery.

lol..well, if he went THROUGH the grids, then yeah, mesh grids or kids grids will work much better, otherwise, why not put a lid on the cage? using either more grids or something else grid like. i have a peice of plexi glass over mine at the moment, but you could use something else. check out the "closed cages" gallery.

He went THROUGH the grids? I have familiar experience with my pigs, the bigger ones can jump out of the playpen I bought from wal-mart. I'll have to make a top for it. It was only
$10 for the playpen!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOO cheap!!!
