Hello everyone!

My poor piggie goes absolutely nuts when I pet his neck. I can barely touch it and he goes psycho on me trying to run away and scream. When i pick him up I notice that he feels like he bit himself or somesuch, but its a scab. It seems to me that he might be overreacting when i pet him. Every since I took him to the vet he has been a nutcase. (they put him on antibiotics). He screams when i go to pick him up, and does the crazy thing when i pet his neck area. He actually jumped off of the couch yesterday and ran into the bedroom (which is quite unusual since he is rather sedentary).

anyone else have a psycho pig or have a hypothesis of what might be wrong with him?

What did the vet say and what are you treating him for? Also how long has it been?

they did a skin scraping and determined it was not mites. They gave him antibiotics for a sniffle instead.

Its been like a month.

I think the wound however, was froma couple weeks ago when my other pig attacked him.. The "nurse" at the vet also sqeezed his neck (and he screamed) I have no idea what for, maybe to make sure his vocal cords worked..

but yeah that is his "neck" history.

99.9% of the time skin scrappings are inconclusive. Treat him for mites.

Phoebe behaved the same way when she had mites. She never had a problem with being touched until then. Definitely get your guinea pig treated for mites.

My best bet is mites too. Skin scraping are useless and only end up causing pain to the pigs. The scab on his neck could be from mites and not from an attack. Unless you witnessed the other pig attacking him. If you treat for mites even if he doesn't have them, it won't hurt. He will need three doses 7-10 days apart.
