picking up piggies

I saw a post earlier that made me think of a question? When we had Tyty he never really did come up to us, he always ran when ever we tried to pick him up. Are all piggies this way? Do they ever get use to you and just stand there and let you pick them up?

most times they will run. its a natural prey reaction thing. Some on some occasions won't run from you. That isn't common. it depends on the personality of the pig itself. Most pigs including my own except my first pig clondike ran like the wind to avoid my hands. after a while of handling them,,they get used to you and probably won't try as desperately to get away. they normally run first then, see what is the matter. Just give it time.

i've found that they all run away at first. they will eventually calm down as they get to know you and even get real lazy on ya lol. some will still be a little skittish like the other person said, depends on the personality but in general, they calm down to a certain degree. the one i have now is two years old and i've had her that whole time and sometimes she can scare and run away but she does know me and for the most part will let me pick her up at any time. sometimes what i do is pet her gently for a bit then ease into picking her up. dont worry, your piggy will let you pick her up. i've never had one that didnt. have fun!! i know i do.
