Ok, thanks again! Hmmm... I'll have to see my local Petsmarts, Petcos, and the animal shelter. I've never been to the animal shelter yet, but I'll see what can be done. It's hard to get my parents to agree with me these days, but I'm doing my best... so I hope it pays off someday.

Why does the small community store deserve to survive more then the large chain? Often the small mom and pop stores are worse then the chains. It seems that the worst cases of cruelty I have heard, have come out of smaller independants. Also, often these small stores treat their employees even worse then the larger chains.

I don't buy into the "community card" very deeply. Petsmart and Petco don't undercut so horribly that the small guy, if he is properly marketing himself can't survive. I have often found better prices in smaller stores. With a proper advertising campaign, in store promotions, and reasonable prices there is room in the market for good independant pet supply stores. many people will only shop at pet supply stores, and avoid pet selling stores at all costs.

The real killers of the small guy are grocery stores and Walmart, who do indeed, drastically undercut the small guy pricing, because they can afford to make pitiful margins on their products. Fortunately, they usually steer clear of the better choice high quality products.

I for one think Petco,is the best store out there, even better than Dollar Tree and BigLots. They sell everything i ever needed.
