Every time i hold my new piggie for like 10 - 15mins(on my lap) he pees on me!! Does any one have any ideas to teach him to stop....my older one has never ever peed on me before so i didnt know why my little one was.....will it stop as he gets older??

My pigg used to pee on me becaus he was annoyed and wanted back in his cage. Um put a couple of towels on your lap. And watch for any signs (a squeak, movement anything) right before he pees on you. Hopefully next time you will be able to see the signs and put him back in his cage before he uses you as a litter box lol..

lol yeh ive done that and i even put him on the couch to explore and luckily i had towels down because he sat still for a while and looked at me then ran off and he had peed!! he also peed on my older brother....lol

Try holding him for a slightly shorter period to see if you can get him back before he wees. He won't want to wee on you, but they need to train their bladder to hold longer - if they're young their bladders are only quite small, and pigs new to a home will also be nervous which also makes them hold less!

Also, having some kind of signal you're about to get him out a minute before you take him out might help - making a specific noise or putting in/ removing something from the cage for example.

Mine usually free-range by day so they can come in and out of their cage to toilet. The only time they can't do this is when I'm cleaning the cage out (there is somewhere else for them to go, but they don't like it as much). Instead of taking the pigs out first, I start lifting out their pigloos etc and as soon as they see me doing that, they know they're going to be kicked out and all three crouch down for a wee! Clever pigs!

I know when my pigs needs a wee. They'll back into my stomach or stick thier bums up. I usually put a towel on my lap

Your little pig might be nervous, do a shorter lap time, a few more times a day. I know when my pigs going to pee on me, its when hes been squeeky for a while and I've had hi out for more than 30min. The little pig might get better at this when he gets older and learns. (My pig peed on my sister...lol and he pees on my bed when I leave him to long)

My pigs aren't potty trained on me.. lol, some are but not my other ones. Peppy won't pee on me, Ruby won't, Chubby won't, but mainly all the other ones will. Funny thing... Almost all my pigs are potty trained! (When on floor time they go in "litter" boxes, they don't use the floor. But I guess I'm just another litter box... tear.

Wow, Treen! Your pigs are clever!

Young pigs take a bit to learn. Even if the pig does know, they have an urge every 10-15 minutes like you said. This gets a bit longer as they gain more control, but for now you've just got to be patient.

By the way, does this pig have a buddy?

Young cavies will usually do this because they aren't trained, their scared and they have no clue of where not to do it and where to do it.You should put a thick blanket or towel on your lap because their urine will easily soak through thin ones. Their are signs of when they need to go.Some will nibble at your sleeve or any other clothing in short reach to them and others will start to squeak or refuse to be pet.

Treen, yes! VERY clever pigs! lol. funny.

I always hold my pigs with water proof baby lap pads just in case I miss the signs!

i got towels from the dollar tree, specifically for lap time.

I had the same problem when I first got my babies. But it only took them a short while to stop, and I haven't been peed on in a couple months.
Good luck!!

lol treen clever piggies!! mncavylover were you asking me if he has a buddy?? if you were then yes he does!! ill try taking him out for shorter periods less often and see how it goes.....sorry for the late reply, we just got a new computer and it hadnt been set up!
