The fleece I was using in my cage was always too big for it, I just never got around to trimming it to size. Well I finally did, and I have a couple of sizable remnants left over that I'd like to use for some extra absorption in the corners where they 'go' most. I've currently just got one of the remnant folded over and in their hidey, it's the perfect size, but I wondered what anyones thoughts where on sewing some towel in between the remnant and making a pad?

My current bedding is newspaper (really more for my piece of mind than anything), towel, then fleece. So would putting towel between some fleece and making a spare pad make a difference, or is just some extra fleece enough?

the fleece itself isn't absorbant, so yes you need something else inside. Like towel, uhaul pad or something. I use cloth prefold diapers folded in half as pee pads in all 4 corners under the fleece, ontop of a towel.

Yep, me too. I had old holey towels, so I doubled them and sewed on some fleece! I have to put mine under my top fleece though as my naughty boys would lay under it if I just put on top of the fleece!!! Kinda defeats the purpose, those silly boys!

I'll probably cut some of the fleece to hidey-size and make a pad with towel in tonight sometime then! I have just been using fleece in the hidey so as what they're sleeping on remains clean and I can put a new one in as and when I need, because they love 'going' in there! But adding a towel in should help with the pee too.

I would make it a little larger than hidey size that way the hidey can kind of "pin down" the potty pad, otherwise your girls might just burrow underneath it in the hidey haha that's what my Penelope used to do.

Yeahh that's the aim! The fleece in there at the minute is a little larger, but I'm not sure if with towels in between it'll shrink a little. We'll see when I get round to it (which'll probably be some time before sunday :p)

I sewed my first pad! Nothing fancy, just a bit of towel sandwiched between some plain fleece remnants, but it holds pretty well, especially considering I sew by hand! :)
