Won't Eat only eats when I sit with her

I have had my new guinea pig for a few days now (In quarantine). At first she dug into her food like a champion. Now, she will only eat if I sit next to her cage. I gave her morning veggies and she refused to eat until I sat next to her cage. If I leave in the middle of when shes eating, she will stop. This is so strange. IfI stop sitting next to her at mealtimes, will she eventually just get hungry enough to eat on her own?

Hmm it's hard to say. I would try and leave it for an hour and if she doesn't eat go back in with her.

I'm sure once you get her out of quarentine she'll start eating once she see's the other pigs. Has she been around other pigs in the past? That would explain it since she's lonely.

Oh I never thought it could be loneliness! She wasn't kept with other pigs, there were other pigs around in separate cages, but she was by herself.

That was the first thing that sprung to mind.

If she begins eating once you put her with your other pigs then I guess we'll know.

Hello all I just read this post I am new to this board and I seem to have this same problem with my piggy. But the thing of this is that she would only eat the hay at first but now she wont eat anything at all I know that she was with other piggies before i got her and she will be with another piggy member that she was brought up with so hopefully my problem will be solved when i get he a friend.
