My guinea pig Georgie is 5, like I said in other postes, and I am making her a C&C kind of cage. My question is if I make a ramp will she ever use it? She is so old and chubby I don't know if she would know how.

If you put her food and veggies up there she will get it really quick. Leave a small dish of pellets on the bottom floor for her just in case.

My 6yr old female never ever uses the ramp no matter how much vegi's I put upstairs.. however she is very lazy!!

yeah mine is a very lazy piggy also. But I'll try what you suggested Dagwell and hopefully she will catch on. Thanks!

Also because she has been in a store bought cage all her life do you think she will run around in a C & C cage? She doesn't run at all, not even for floor time.

This is her my little fatty.

I am sure despite her old age, a C&C would be wonderful to her. Even if she dosn't run around.

ok I was going to make one anyways, but i was just wondering if she would. Hopefully she will. I am also planning on getting a younger guinea pig for her as a friend eventualy also.

It's never too late to make a bigger cage. :) I'm sure she will love it.

Well, if she's lazy like my pig is, and doesn't run around like my pig does, I know that if you put a pigloo or hidey house at the top, and don't put one in the bottom, she might use the ramp. My pig spends a lot of her time in the pigloo, so if I put it at the top, she would go up a ramp to get it. Good luck!

Well the problem is she is so used to us she never uses her hidey house anymore (it's still in there) shes always veggin out in a corner.

Both mine use the ramp i gave them. but you need to give them a reason to go up. My ramp goes up to a little 1x2 with a tent for hiding and lots of hay. They both love sleeping there, especially my old one.

I'm sure shes not as lazy as you think.

My old pig had spent a year and a half in a tiny hutch at his old owners. He got food and company and such but was used to a tiny space and sleeping all the time (cos there was nothing else to do I guess). After a few weeks of having him in a bigger cage (but not that big, he now has a c+c cage) and regular floor time he livened up. He still sleeps a lot, but he does move around a lot more then when I first got him.

thats true, I hope that happens with Georgie. Even if she doesn't move as much as I hope when i make the cage it will still make me feel like i am making her last years great for her.
