Help!

My 5 year old sow has a problem. Her butt has been constantly dirty with stuck, dried-on poop. The cage is always clean and when I give her a bath it usually comes off, but then a day or two later it is gross again. She is not really having dirhoerea, just kind of soft poop. It has gotten so bad now that is pulling on the hair, leaving sores. We just clipped some of the hair away and it looks a little better, but it is still bad. I just seperated her from the rest of the pigs and put her in a large laundry basket linded with towels. We have been to several vets about this, but they are all clueless. Does anyone know anything about this?Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should feed her?

I know this probably won't help but my rabbit had the exact same problem and we took him to a vet that was supposed to know about rabbits and he told us to give the rabbit "wet tail medicine" from a petstore. In the end it didn't help he survied for about 7 months, even after the wet tail medicine he still pooped on him self and stuff we had to bathe him every week. We took him to several other vets they told us the same thing. Finally he ended up dying. He was a very old rabbit 7years. Not sure how though we just found him dead in his cage. We had been feeding him a very bland diet to make sure he didn't have diareah. We think he might have just let himself go. And didn't want to clean himself anymore.
I think you should just keep her on guinea pig pellets and moniter how much water she drinks.
I hope that your piggy gets better really soon. Good luck.

I found this on a website. online-
"If given an adequate diet, including plenty of fresh hay, guinea pigs rarely have stomach troubles. The most common malady is diarrhea from eating too much "watery" vegetables. This is easily fixed by cutting back on the fresh veggies until your guinea pig's poop returns to normal.
But chronic diarrhea, a watery bum, black diarrhea or foul-smelling mess indicates a very serious intestinal problem. If your guinea pig is on antibiotics and develops chronic diarrhea, contact your vet immediately, as many antibiotics (listed below) are harmful to piggies and can cause deadly diarrhea. Moldy fruits and vegetables can also be culprits. If you piggy shows any of the signs I've just mentioned, contact your vet."

Get your pig to a vet ASAP, as she might have an intestinal infection which may cause her to stop eating. Diarrhea is serious, as in deadly.

Yes I agree you should find a cavy specialist vet. One who knows a lot about guinea pigs.
