Oh, my gosh?

I just read in one of the threads that you shouldn't handle a pregnant pig. You could hurt the babies. Maggie, is very pregnant and I give her lap time every morning when I come home from work. Have I hurt her? Should I stop holding her until the babies are born?
I have never had a pregnant pig before. Just males. This is all new to me. I am so nervous about this birth. It's like the birth of my grandchildren. I don't want to dok anything to cause stress. I have been reading all the links to pregnancy but had not read until now that handling is a bad thing.

Just be careful when handling them. I'm sure it is fine. I have had to in order to clean and weigh them. When it is closer to her due date and you feel babies kicking, try not to or use a towel or cuddle cup to pick her up.

I snuggled my girl right up to the day before she had them and everybody came out fine (I was pretty gentle and I tried not to touch her bulging belly at all). The last time I handled she was very uncomfortable and just couldn't seem to find anyway to make herself comfortable on my lap or in her cage. She made her ' leave me alone' feelings pretty clear (she was a wee tad grumpy ...lol). And here I thought I was helping !! "Silly cavy slave !! hahaha

As long as you aren't rough, they should be fine.. And don't chase a pregnant pig around, because sometimes when a running pig you can pick them up roughly.
