I just went back to the place that I'd gotten Bridget and Felix at. I did find out that they don't get their pigs from a particular breeder, all of them that they do get are "given up". Basically, people dump their pigs with them often apparently.
So anyway, I asked to see their pigs and the lady said go ahead and grab em. There were 3 cavies in there little triangle plexiglass cage. They did however have veggies, and a couple apple pieces, 2 water bottles and a big bowl of plain pellets, which was good, but no hidey house(s) or anything else.
The main reason I wanted to look at them up close was to check their sex, 'cause when I got Bridget and Felix I was told they were both girls. So I picked up a lovely tortise shell and it was a sow. There was also a carmel color and a very soft agouti, I'd guess the agouti was the youngest. I checked those 2 and it was obvious that both of them were boars! So I went and told the lady about it and she was just like, oh and had wide eyes about it. I asked her about where they came from. That's when I'd found out that they just have dumped guinea pigs, all 3 had come from the same person. Not only that, but I had to put her back with the boars! She didn't mention anything about separating them, she told me to ask the owner about them. I'm like who's the owner, how can I get in touch? She says, "Oh, the lady who just left".....
So I can't even talk to the owner until tomorrow morning, I could almost guarentee that the female is pregnant. I'm going to adopt her tomorrow too, even my hubby said it was cool. It just agrivates me that they do that, put males and females together, and they most likely don't check or don't care =/
Also I was wondering about a way to get free or cheap neutering? Or do you just have to go to a vet that knows cavies?
