Well, about a month ago, I rescued a mom and her baby from a pet store going out of business. Since then, I have adopted out the baby boy, and I am keeping the mom. The mom is starting to look awefully round in the tummy, and it is very easy to see because she has a smooth coat. I am starting to really worry that she is pregnant again.

I thought I removed her baby in plenty of time, but then I read that males can impregnate as young as 3 WEEKS! Now I am wondering if he mated her, but I think it would be too soon for me to see signs. So I am also wondering if she was placed with a male at the pet store right after she gave birth. My husband was periodically in and out of the pet store from about 3 days after she gave birth to the time he finally talked them into selling her and the baby (she had 3 others that they sold too), and he said he never saw her with another adult pig.

I THINK she had her last litter in the pet store on approximately January 10th. I removed her baby sometime around February 1st, so the baby would have been just around 3 weeks.

Can anyone tell me about how long into the pregnancy it will be before I can see obvious signs that she is pregnant? I gently felt her tummy tonight and THOUGHT I could feel some little things in there, but I could be mistaken.

I think 59-72 days. She could have been back bred if she was near a male when she gave birth before. I don't think you can really tell much until they are pregnant for around 6 weeks.

Do you weigh her? If she is gaining quite a bit of weight over a short period that will help tell. Is she starting to get a pear shape to her?

I haven't weighed her. I can try to do that though. She is looking like a pear to me, but I still feel like it would be too early to tell anything. Her belly is just so ROUND. Maybe she is just eating a little too well?? In any case, I REALLY hope it wasn't her own son that got her pregnant!
