I posted not long ago about all the issues I was having with my Momo, and then a recent surgery he had to remove a kidney stone.
Well sadly I woke up on Saturday morning to the lifeless body of my Momo in the middle of his cage :weepy:, I was so devastated. The vet did a necropsy on him and he told me that he's almost sure that he died of kidney failure. He said Momo's kidney's looked dried and shrivled, and all the bloating was not from backed up food, but from fluids. Although the fluid didn't get into his lungs, I'm thinking the kidneys just weren't not functioning anymore to process those fluids. He said in a human when you have a surgery like that you'd have something like catheters and such inserted to keep your kidneys working properly, but sadly with these little ones that just not feasible, so all we can do is hope that surgery works.
I'm still so sad to have lost my Momo, everyday I can still swear I hear a very faint wheeking coming from his cage begging for food or I still expect him to come running out of his pigloo when I open the treats drawer to give to the rabbits =( *sigh*
So now both my piggies are gone, and I'm left with my 2 rabbits, which I love dearly as well so all I can hope for is that they remain with us for many years to come. I honestly don't know that I can bear the pain of losing piggies again. After Momo passed I threw out the old coroplast, I took apart the cage, I put everything away, for the moment I will only focus on my 2 buns.
Thanks again everyone, I suppose at least now I have some closure.
