Brody Doesn't seem to use his ramp, in stead he jumps from the first floor to the second. Even when he is going down. My dad adjusted the second floor so that it is a little lower. is 19 centimeters safe for a guine pig jump?

Hmmm... do you have grids blocking the rest of the area off from jumping? That's what I have, and the piggies use that just fine. 19 cm is about 8" or so, and it should be ok for now.

i heard that they can break their teeth if they get dropped from a few inches, but i don't think that really happens very much, that is probably more of like a very cautionary note, but it would be better if you could get him to use his ramp, maybe use the grides on the sides if he 2nd story, and grids/minigrids(available at target and probably other places) on the sides of the ramp

that is sort of cool that he jumps instead of using the ramp

its not cool its kinda dangerous. You could try draping a towel over the ramp which makes it less scary goin up and down the ramp its like a tunnel-hidey house- thingy

I have a cage with a ramp that is a very shallow slope that leads to the second level which is 6" above the cage floor and my piggies are goofy, they usually use the ramp but they like to jump onto the side of the ramp (about 4-5" high) and jump off when leaving or playing with each other...only the baby walks all the way down the ramp and they dont seem to suffer any ill effects from it.

Just make sure that the area that they are landing in is very soft with a thick layer of bedding.

I only said that because then you would not have to take up room with the ramp.My ramp takes up most of my cage so I had to make it bigger.

It's dangerous, though. Perhaps you could just change the ramp design.

my guinea pig loves jumping down from second level. I have a ramp on one end and she loves climbing up the ramp and running around the second level and jumping down the other end. Round and round she goesl. Its approx. 7-1/2" high. Its not true when some people say guinea pigs are not jumpers. Mine jumps up to the second floor which is like i said 7-1/2" high. When she jumps down her front feet are extending downward and out so its not a true 7" jump. MOre like a 5 inch jump if you follow what i mean. No ill effects here.

Oh, ok. Here I was thinking it was a full 14"! Silly me. Yes, mine jump about 6-7" onto their lower ramp grid, so I think it should be just fine.
