hey before i start this thread please do not down what i am doing understand its all i got THANK YOU...

Well about 8 months ago my girlfriends room mates in college went to there local pestmart and purchased a piggy to live with them in there room. After about a month they started to loose intrest in him(did not play with or really feed him that much) So my girlfriend descided to try and buy him.... and did. So she had this second hand perinoid little piggy who had to learn to love her while hiding in the bottom of her closet at school hiding from the room checks. The pig came with you standard tiny store bought cage with low sidewalls so the pig could just kick his shavings every where so we had to find somthing different.... She came up with the idea of using a laundry basket with all the holes in the side of them because it was inconspicuous (transporting in and out of the dorm) and was a slight bit bigger. Well the big took the cage in for a little while and with final permission from the parents we were able to leave the pig at home most of the time (so pig gets more room).

The problem was that a CandC cage was just to stationary (the pig is trying find a home in one of the rooms of the house ha ha ha) i had to think of some way to build something bigger that could be moved. I got the idea to link another basket next to the excisting one. I cut a hole in each of the baskets, then cut the ends off a 2L coke bottle and used it as a tunnlel between the two cages, and the zip tied the to cages together. This was working.... he had a place to eat, sleep/lay in his house, drink; and then a seperate place to "FROLIC"

I have noticed during the pigs floor time he liked to do laps so i got the idea to put pvc pipe around the back of the cage for him to tunnle through. So... i went to the local Lowes and got some 4 in sewer pipe(with the wholes drilled in the top) and 1 coupler(so that the pipe could be opened incase of a stubborn pig) and 4 90 degree elbows. and the pig has absolutly loved it he makes lap after lap after lap.

I do know that this is probbally a non recomended cage but it has worked for my needs and is seeming to work for the pigs to i just wanted to put out the word that my way did work and my pig is happy (notice i said my pig i become so attached ha ha ha)

So for closings i have 2 plastic laundry baskets linked together with the middle of a coke bottle and 4 in pvc drain pipe runing out the sides and down the back of the "cage" and into the other side....
I KNOW THIS IS HARD TO PICTURE AND I WILL POST A PIC NEXT WEEKEND But till then have fun and happpy piggying

My husband is a plumber and recently brought home two poles of 4in PVC pipe that we cut to make tunnels and hiday houses for our piggies, they love it. We also have elbows to make longer tunnels around the room PeeJay loves to go in there and then come running out the other end towards Big Momma.

Welcome Sebedale. Talk about ingenuity! While I agree it's certainly not a C&C, it seems that you are willing to make your piggies life as good as it can possibly be given the circumstances. Please consider a friend for your piggy and . . . Congratulations on becoming yet another of a growing number of piggy slaves!

Not being mean here, but if you post a picture do it on this thread and not in the gallery. Pictures of non c&c cages aren't allowed in the gallery.

Hi! I'm the 'mommy' of the piggy Sebedale is talking about...yes, the cage is a bit 'rigged' as I like to call it, but Pumpkin (the pig) has a blast!
Having the two separate baskets also makes cleaning easier...seems the pig has decided to only use one of the baskets for his bathroom and leave the other one nice and clean for lounging, which saves cleaning time for me!

Oh, and Denise-we did actually get the pig a friend, another little male named Oscar. We are currently in the process of introducing them...they have been going through the whole 'I'm the top male' routine for the past two days, but there has been no actual fighting yet so we are very hopeful!

Very creative. I really want to try the pvc. Hopefully once I finish my new cage design, I'm goign to go out and get some. That will be my next project.
I'm glad you got him a friend too, they'll be friends in no time I'm sure.)
