My sisters and I got our pigs out for a play date. Dega started to like hump the other two. We were told Dega was a girl. My dad checked and he said she is a girl. But I'm not sure. Is that normal behavior for a girl guinea pig with 2 other girls??

Mounting of either sex is a dominance thing. Normal for boys and boys or girls and girls.

Shewwww. What a relief! I mean, I would not love Dega any less if she was a boy. But with two other girls, it's best for me to have another girl. Thanks!!

Sows mounting other sows is also a sign of heat although not every sow in heat will try to mount other sows.

Do you and your sister live in the same home? I imagine Dega is lonely if she lives by herself. Maybe you and your sister could think about letting all the pigs live together in one large C&C.

We had Dega and Talla together, but Talla was really mean to Dega. And she wouldn't let her eat or drink. We think that might be because Dega is so much smaller than Talla, or because Talla is possibly pregnant. We're not sure.

The pigs get a lot of play time though. They also get a lot of attention and love from us.

The "meaness" is really nothing more than sorting out dominance.

I would suggest trying to re-introduce them. They will fight at first and squabble over things like food and water. Put 2 of everything in the cage. They WILL work it out, you have to be willing to give them the time to do it though. most people's mistake is to seperate them too quickly. But it takes time. They will scream and squeek and chatter their teeth and dance about, but its all normal.

I think you'll be pleased with the results. You will have to more active, more talkative, more social with people, and more happy animals.

My Poppy was mounting due to a hormone imbalance and she had to be spayed. Hopefully it won't be that serious for Dega but you should check if her nipples are normal. Poppys were enlarged and leaking fluid if you pressed gently.
