My long-suffering husband was a dog person when I married him, but he turned into a cat slave and took up horseback riding after our marriage, as I warned him beforehand that I'd always own cats and that the horse wasn't optional either. He's also learned to enjoy birds, first with my cockatiel and now with our Quaker parrot.
The one animal type he wasn't big on was rodents. He'd never hurt one, but they just didn't appeal to him. He understood my desire for a piggy (to help me with reviewing small animal products for one of my jobs...plus I had one when I was younger), and I knew he'd help with it if required, but he was kind of "meh" overall.
Well, Mufasa has barely been in the house a week, and I've already caught him gently petting the piggy in his lap and reaching in to pet him when near the cage. He insists on making sure Mufasa gets play time on the floor in the safe area, checks to make sure he's eating, and generally seems to have bonded with the "rodent." I'm amazed at the power these little guys have to win over people! He just couldn't resist that cute, soft little charmer.
