Well, she has been in her cage for the first night, and I just wanted to say how thankful I am that I found this page, and that I made this cage for my girl! She is SOOOO happy. You could hear her running around, it was so cute, and she is loving exploring, which she didn't do in her old cage...she just kind of hid there.

Today I plan to order the piggy bedspreads, two 2x4 for the base and two 1x2 for the loft I plan to make. I am excited! I just wish the lot bedspreads were cheeper. Oh, well! Then I need to make the loft and figure out the best way to make a ramp.

Thank you everyone, for the great advice!

I'd save the money on buying the bedspreads for the loft. It's such a small area that the expense of shavings, wood pellets, or carefresh wouldn't be too much. Plus, the smaller the area the harder to control the smell when using fleece. I think it would get soiled to quickly that you'd have to change out pads every day or two.

Weren't you going to use the loft as a kitchen? Can't remember for sure. If that's the case, your piggy will do most of it's pooing and weeing up there while it's eating, so a disposable bedding would be better. (Just my opinion though)

I'm so glad she is running around and happy. :)

Yes, I am thinking that I will use it as a kitchen, but she seems to seek out her litter box, and use only that for pee, with the occasional stray poop. It is weird, but she seems to like the one spot! I'm happy about that. I was going to do the carefresh, but I think that the bedspreads might be easier because then I can lay her bowls down and not have to worry that she is going to get the litter in it. Plus that carefresh stuff is not cheap! Neither are the bedspreads mind you, but in the long run they seem to be cheaper. I can always put a litter pan in the loft too if necessary and she ends up wanting to potty up there, but I would like to stick to one order from the bedspread people because I am in Canada and it is harder to ship here. I am trying a service in the states who will hold the package, and I am going to get my mom to go and pick it up.

Nevermind then...LOL.

If you have a litter trained piggy the good luck with the bedspreads. You are one of the LUCKY ones.

I know I am lucky, I wasn't expecting it! Hopefully she stays that way! So far so good even in the new cage. Not a poop out of place this morning!

Isn't it neat when the first start exploring their new space? My guys act like it's all new when I do the weekly cleaning and they just crack me up! Glad your little girl is happy!

Yes, it was really cool to see how excited she was about the whole thing!

Was it easy to set up? I've been looking at them. I want to get it set up before she gets bigger. Right now she is such a tiny thing, but I am sure that won't be for long. She eats a lot so I would imagine she will get big pretty fast. :)

I think that mine is about the same size as yours. I have a thread with pics of her, not sure if you saw that?

It was easy, yes! I had my hubby to help, but I could have easily done it on my own :)
