Newspaper

Hi

I am new to this forum and posted my firsr thread under the kitchen, as my guniea is a big boy and I have problems getting him to loose weight..

But I have another question, I use newspaper under the woodenshavings in his cage as it absorbs good but he has started eating the paper..
He is not only tearing it apart for the fun of it, he is actually eating it..
Is this harmful for their tummy's?

nope, they love eat newspaper and it's fine for them. I had my guinea pig, George, on the computer desk with me yesterday and he started eating some paper on the desk. They are so silly!

Thats good to know! Yeah, I agree they can be silly at times... Mine even try to tear down the wallpaper when he is out and about....Any chance to get a nibble here and there...

Yeah they're silly little piggies...lol. Mine were munching on the newspaper during floortime yesterday and right next to them was a pile of veggies and they were more interesting in chewing up the newspaper...lol

Just make sure there isn't any colored ink on the newspaper, that can be bad for them if ingested in large amounts.

Also make sure the newspaper you use is printed with soy based ink. Otherwise, yes it can be harmful.
