I just bought a new piggy from a petstore,(yes i know bad me but i couldn't find one at the shelter) for my male guinea pig(and for me of course hehehe). But he doesn't seem to be doing ok he isn't eating. I took a syringe and fed him water but he is just sitting there. Do you think he is lonely he was with 6 other brothers (the litter was all boys). I am quaretining him but my friend thinks i should move him into the big cage with my older male Cinnamon so Cinnamon can show him what to do. I have a whole new cage built for little baby and my older male. Should I continue quaretining him or just go ahead and move him into the cage with Cinnamon?

HI the baby pig is eating a little but not very much. He is just acting lifeless he doesn't even go inside his hut. When i went to buy him he was snuggled up with his brothers. And he looked fine. Should i take him to the vet? He is showing no signs of a cold.

can some one please help me? I have never had a piggy that has acted like this and I have never had one from a petstore!! I always got mine from the shelter.

Anyways do you think the piggy is just scared?
thanx

It has been 3 days tommorrow

For the first few days, you should leave him alone with foods, water, hay...
Because he needs some time to familiar with the new environment. I think it should be ok if you have foods, water inside the cage. If he really feel hungry, I believe he will go get some food.

If this pig has to be force fed and watered with a syringe, I would DEFINATELY seek a vet's advice.

It is possible that he is just lonely, but even lonely pigs eat. Get it checked before you introduce him to your existing pig. You don't want to pass along a disease to your healthy pig!!!

I hope your new pig gets better soon!!!
Keep us posted,
Marie

I called my vet and explained that I thought he was lonely and he said to put the little piggy in the free time run around area so it could smell other piggies. I did and he perked right up squeaking and everything!!! so i called the vet back and he said to try feeding him with no syringe while he was perked up. So i gave it some treats I had bought and some veggies. And guess what? He ate them so i am going to continue quaretining him in cinnamons free time area and just let cinnamon run around in a different piggies run around area. But i am keeping a close watch over the piggy making sure he still eats and drinks etc.
Thanx for all your help!!
I will keep you posted!
