I'm fairly new to owning guineas. I started out with Honey, who is 2 months old, and the store (yes...I know...store. never again.) gave me pine bedding with her - I found out she is terribly allergic to it, her eye lid swelled, eye was red and watery, and she was always sneezing. Now she is removed from that she is all healthy!!! :) I've also given Honey a piece of soft red fleece and she adores it... She hides under it, sleeps in it and even stashes her food in it :3

Tomorrow I will be getting 2 more guineas, which'll help keep her company if I happen to get busy. They are both long haired guineas, from a previous owner who ended up having allergies. I'll also be getting some good ol' timothy hay for them here soon :)

I do have a couple questions!! :) I love veggies anyways, so I initially got her broccoli.. she doesn't seem to like it. She ate pieces of an apple with me though. Any suggestions for vitamin C for her? We don't have those drops here

Don't worry about the vitamin C drops, you don't need them.

Make sure you provide hay to them all the time. It is very important to the health of their teeth. Chewing hay constantly helps to keep them from growing to long.

Broccoli can cause gas, which will make your pig(s) uncomfortable. Try red and green leaf lettuce, green and yellow bell peppers, and cilantro as daily staple in you pig(s) diet.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you can find all your answers here.

I like to feed my piggys veggies that are high in Vit. C. Oranges, Kale, ect.

Once a week my piggies also get oxbows chewable guinea pig Vit. C suplement. I added this into there diet when my vet said they were low on Vit. C.

Drops don't work. They make the water taste funny and once you put them in the water, they disalve leaving no Vit. C

Have fun!!

We would love to see pictures for your girls!!@!:)

Maybe that explains why she didn't like broccoli.. A friend suggested getting broccoli. then again people said to get cedar X.X which I already know is a big no-no :)

Do the guineas actually like chewable vitamin Cs?? o.o I might try finding some of those, as a just in case.

I did have some hay left over when I got Honey, so I'll be getting some more hopefully today when I am out with my boyfriend. Timothy hay. :) Thanks for forewarning the drops!! I'll see to get some peppers...

I will definitely add some pics of Honey!! and the two gals =D Honey is so sweet - hence her name. She is the white gal with the black ear. The pics were day one, when she had her allergic reaction.

Welcome! Those are some beautiful piggies!
Check out in the diet/nuitrition thread the list of veggies to give and how often to give.
You will find great info here on this site to give your piggies a long and healthy life.
If you havent yet got your girls in a c&c cage check out the cage section for building your girls a great cage. Keep up posted on your girls. Love sharing and great pictures. We love pictures.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here for you.

Tomorrow (afternoon/evening) I will upload a picture of the cage, and the hutch :) And will probably measure them too lol! I have looked into the c&c cages, just I'd have to order it since I live in a pretty lame town x.x even for my bettas I cannot get what I need!!

I have a very picky piggy who initially would only ever munch on apples, bananas, and carrots. Generally speaking, pigs need to see a food several times before they will eat it when Introducing something new. I make little "salads", which I include some time tested favorites and some I know my boy won't eat, but he's getting used to seeing green things and eventually starts to nibble on it :).

Your girls are precious!

That's a good idea!! :) I'll try that. Especially since I have no idea how these new guineas have been fed, what they have been fed... etc... So I'll do it for all of them. On a good note, I'll eat it if they won't lol

And thank you! :) Funny thing I almost got one like the girl with the red eyes... but I didn't... o_O
