Hi everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to brag up my two new girls. I just got them from my local Humane Society this afternoon. I'm so excited.

Now, comes the hard part. I admit, this is tough, that I let my emotion get away from me and I couldn't resist the temptation. So, that said, I haven't planned for the new additions.

I guess these girls are around two years old. Is there any chance they could integrate into my previous' girls' enclosure? Can I do it? Or is there no way to help them get along?

The cage has been enlarged to allow for more cavies, so that isn't a problem. I just worry about them being too territorial, especially since the new ones are so much older than mine (4 and 5 months old).

All have been vet checked and verified female, so accidental pregnancy shouldn't be a concern.

Thanks everyone!

Females are usually easier to introduce. Just make sure to scrub the cage really well before you put them all together (after quarintine)

ps-first introductions had everyone except one of my old piggers getting along famously. Penelope (agouti/white) is not pleased. Her hair is raised up in hackles and she's making extremely annoyed sounds...That's what made me realize it would not be a perfect transition, despite my best hopes.

Oh, no quarantine. I messed that up already. They haven't been in the same cage but they've been wire-to-wire. I shouldn't do that yet, should I? How long should they be quarantined?

Sorry guys, I'm so new to this...

3 weeks maximum. Congrats though!

I'm writing this while trying to calm poor Penelope...my baby. If they have been vet checked and tested, is there a difference in quarantine time? Not that I would skimp, but just curious.

What should I try once the quarantine has passed?

Even my husband was supportive. Our Central Illinois Humane Society is getting FULL of piggers right now. Everyone's dumping them :(
